    I started this comment thread with complete disbelief that:

    A) someone thinks that pitch would have hit Abreu in any universe

    B) There are Red Sox fans who don't love Josh Beckett for the ass kicker that he is

    C) People still think the 'Sox fans are dicks' angle is fresh


    But I've forgotten about all of it because of the awesomeness of the Ninja Turtle tangent. You all win.

    The asshole thing Beckett did was leaving the mound after he pissed off Abreu with that pitch. So, for that, sure suspend him, fine him, whatever.

    That's fuckin gay. He doesn't get ejected from the game but gets suspended after that fact? He threw it over the home plate umpire's head.


    The umpire should be suspended for not kicking him out of that game if anything.


    Anyone who ever played on an even remotely competitive level knows you don't back out of the box that late anyway.

    @wonderlic---myballs: If there's 1 unwritten rule as a pitcher, it's NEVER mess with a guy's livelihood by throwing at their head. Beckett was pissy because Abreu got a late timeout, but if Abreu didn't duck that ball tags him between the eyes. Totally unacceptable.

    @BruschisBrewsky: I agree, Beckett is very Clemens-y, and thus unlikeable by Sox fans as well as players across the league. That said, its the home plate ump's call. I don't know how you can see anything on tape that the the ump didn't see gas by his head as well. If he's negligent he should be suspended just as long.

    @wonderlic---myballs: I totally agree, the umpire botched that entire situation, and was the main reason things got out of hand.


    That being said, it almost pains me to root for Beckett every 5th day. He's every bit the douche Clemens was/is, without the accomplishments.

    @BruschisBrewsky: Hang on. Without the accomplishments? He threw a complete game shutout to win a World Series in the house that Satan built. And pitched you guys into a Series in 2007. Clemens won the same amount of rings, did it on more drugs than Keith Richards, and threw his best friend under the bus. Douche? Yes? Clemens level? Nuh-uh.
