For years, people have been asking me to comment on Bill James's writing style, but I have refrained, because I have always thought it pointless to address issues of taste and style that cannot be quantified in a precise, scientific manner. But now, in this comment, which will be included in the 2010 compendium of all my blog comments on the subject of baseball quantification, I am now ready to comment on the subject at hand.
It's as accessible as the Green Monster, as direct as a Wakefield knuckler, as well-thought-out as the Sox trading away Babe Ruth. A complete waste of paper. What I'm really trying to say here, is that Bill James is to writing what Manny Acta was to the Nationals' chances of winning a pennant.

And on this topic I shall write no more.
