The Rangers season might have gone very differently if they hadn’t lost fifth-leading scorer Mats Zuccarello in the last game of the opening round against Pittsburgh. The Rangers winger was struck in the head with a slapshot, left the game, and never returned.
They’re calling it an upper-body injury, but the Rangers have announced that Mats Zuccarello is out “indefinitely” with what’s obviously a concussion suffered when he was hit in the head with a puck. It’s a big blow to the secondary scoring of a legit Cup contender.
The Rangers forward also has a great nickname: "The Norwegian Hobbit." But Zuccarello is quickly becoming known for his tricksy stickhandling and shootout prowess, going 5-for-6 in his two-month NHL career, including the winner last night.
