Those of you kids who like the Ultimate Fighting Championships — and we will confess a fascination ourselves — are surely familiar with Matt Hughes. Not only is he a nine-time UFC welterweight champion, he's also author of the New York Times bestselling autobiography Made In America (his co-author is our friend Michael Malice), but he's also from Hillsboro, Illinois, which is 85 miles from Mattoon. (In Central Illinois, this is pretty much right next door.) And he's a fan of Deadspin.

We are doing this because:

a) It's a slow holiday afternoon.
b) We are depressed that Hughes' book will surely sell better than ours.
