Could there just be a time difference that we're not used to? I know Deadspin is usually wrapped up for the day by this time, but I see other gawker blogs that have posts well into the twilight.
@Owen's Hard Greaves: I'm sorry, I forgot about Bob Knight's door. Three weeks in and I'm still caught up in the UK-Memphis excitement. I must know how the assistant coach/recruit situation will shake out.
@Lizabelle: Oh, that's not up for discussion - she gets no quarter for that.
But otherwise, I really do think people are being too harsh. We had some weekends in the past with no posts, and there was excessive bitching about it. Now we've at least got something. I'm not saying don't beef, just dial it back a bit; i.e., don't bite the hand that feeds you (gnaw on it if you must, just don't greak the skin)
@Sculptor?!? I just met her!: Counterpoint: the tenacity of the criticism is because she's done so little to placate us with content. With the sparsity of posts(four, totaling ~8 paragraphs) she's left the door open for the criticism to take off because it truly has been the most entertaining part of the day. She reaps what she sows.
@ClintonPortishead: Better outcome: No Deadspin posts and we just keep talking about everything on last night's DUAN post, or what we got today? Discuss.
@Sculptor?!? I just met her!: Honestly, I think most of us (with some exceptions, I'm sure) were not just looking for a punching bag. I genuinely would have been pleased if this worked out. Male or female, it would be interesting to have an occasional guest editor that had a very different writing style, or even one that doesn't know much about sports but can write well.
But this is such an obvious and complete failure, there's not much else to say. I'm sure Moe is a very nice person.
@Sculptor?!? I just met her!:Can we talk about the Indians decimating the Yankees instead? And how nice it is too be drunk in eastern time off good beer and lots of oxygen?
Brian Cashman: Idiot for totally mismanaging the Yankees farm system, or genius for collecting his insane salary and basically robbing the Steinbrenners blind? Discuss.
@Sarah Schorno: Works for me. The Yanks have been dealing with the curse of A-Rod for a few years, and now they have to deal with the unbelievably bad mojo of tearing down and replacing the stadium where they won all those championships. I feel certain they will not win another World Series in my lifetime, and I can't tell you how happy that makes me.
My brother and family came through Atlanta yesterday on their way back from Florida and brought me a early birthday gift. A $50 Chick-fil-A gift card. It might end up being my favorite gift.
I keep hearing about all these "arms" in the system, but when you have to treat them like 21 treats his toys "No, THAT IS MINT IN BOX!" its really not much value.
al I know is when Wang, who clearly needs to be working out his issues in AAA, comes out after 1 inning and some dude named Clagget comes in to replace him, a few dollars were misspent somewhere.
@Sarah Schorno: After today's outing, Wang has an ERA of 34.5. Six innings pitched, 23 earned runs. Fucking stellar. The NY Post will be calling for Girardi's head any day now.
And have you read Matt Taibbi's takedown of Cashman? It's amazing!
@the cajun boy: It's easy to call for Girardi's head, but here's the thing... when you manage the Yankees, your opinions are at least the fourth most important. And when the three above you are Hank, Hal, and Cashman, you're fucked.
@Sarah Schorno: "Because objectively speaking, the job of New York Yankees general manager should be the single most failure-proof position not only in sports but in all of human society. Giving a normal, red-blooded, pattern-baldness-suffering American male access to the Steinbrenner fortune and asking him to buy 25 baseball players a year in an unregulated market is no different, in any meaningful way, from handing Sarah Jessica Parker a blank check and asking her to fill a three-bedroom apartment with shoes and dresses. And we're not even asking her to get good deals. All we ask is that the outfits match."
Damnit, I don't want to be a perpetual dick but you're making it so, so hard. Today has been the equivalent of Kige Ramsey filming his own Shakespeare.

Cashman is the Yankee with an insane salary?
The playoffs are not your birthright, Yankee fans. Suck on a turd sandwich like the rest of us have to do.
