when your hopes and dreams are tied to the whims of a 17-year-old kid, that never ends well
You're right Dash, especially if these kids are anything like me at 17. My only hope and dream at that age was to see if I could masturbate at a double digit pace while studying for exams.
@Phil Mickelsons Man Tits: Tits, the kid is a young 17 and carries a 4.0. I get my haircut at the same place his dad goes. Most of us thought he was headed for Stanford for the academics. I don't know if he will be Myron Rolle, but chances are he is putting up better academic numbers than 99% of this board.
Fair enough. I shouldn't have tossed in the tutor reference, but the sharp end of my comment was aimed at the anchor who fawningly called this kid "a great writer."
I've always hated high school recruiting. Not only is it worse than the draft in terms of wild-ass guessing, but the damn fans look at it and start pissing and moaning when that one recruit isn't getting courted as they should. And it just makes the player more narcissistic (sp?) and less likely to be a team player, and even the parents start thinking they're stars. And high school coach don't care, because high school coach gets credit for coaching such a great kid (well, they think that'll happen).
I think once ESPN debuted their ESPN Top 150, we should've realized this was wrong.
@That-Dude: You're correct. Pickles Clausen is the greatest QB to ever don the Blue and Green and Gold and other shade of Gold and has brought that program back up to the top of college football.

No kidding, especially since I usually play as the LA-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.

Just as Isiah was a great GM, and Pol Pot was a great a humanitarian.
Hey Florida, better recruit a few more tutors while you're at it.
