    @Chris Hanson's Axe: Concur. I read the transcript and was waiting for the climax. When it was over I was really letdown. The second reading didn't make it any more offensive.

    @CanHeHackett: You could probably substitute "Iranian" with some tiny D-III college, and the same kind of remarks would follow; mirthful wonderment followed by jocular and minor associations to anything they've heard of in relation to the school/nationality mentioned. Like Don Ohlmeyer (shudder) said in relation to Bob Griese's taco remarks, it's hard to be funny and relevant for three hours at a time; I'm willing to grant some latitude to what really is an interesting story (the first Iranian in the NBA) during garbage time of a broadcast.

    I don't think this is even as grievous as Bob Griese's comments, and there's a lot of people who thought a suspension in that case was inappropriate.
