    Despite its many issues, I think the NHL has made a lot of strides this year in the public's mind and has certainly come a long way from the dead and buried league of the lockout year. Meanwhile, the NBA seems to be having a crisis of confidence thanks to their officials, their money issues, their age limit, their draft lottery, their logo ... It's a running joke that the league only has one fan and he just wrote a 700-page book that will only be read on the toilet.

    Not to get all serious here, but the NHL's officiating problem is actually bigger than the NBA's. It's just that so few people have played hockey and also follow the game closely for it to be a big topic.

    @ShakeTiller: I agree. Not on the corrupt level the NBA experienced, but reffing in the NHL is fucking brutal game in game out. Missed calls, phantom calls, blown calls, and weak calls at key points in a game are the norm. You get up 2 or 3 goals and you know the other team is getting a pp. And Lord knows Uncle Gary sends down the word on who he favors: Crosby.

    @meatbat: Let's not leave Ovie off his list of favored players. It seemed, at times, that the Caps could do no wrong in the eyes of the refs, especially during the horribly called Rangers series.

    NHL, at least my team is still alive there*. That being said, Gary Bettman is a chump for letting Stern schedule this game opposite his.
