So Big Stein cedes power after it becomes clear he is no longer capable of running things himself. Say what you want about the man, but at least he's ending things differently than Al Davis.

And its worth noting that when he took over the club they had already pretty much become a "laughing stock" -perhaps even more so than they may area ccused of being be now because they were perennial cellar dwellers in the AL. At least now most of the hatred comes from jealousy and the ridicule when they don't win comes as much from relief as anything else by those who got used to losing to them.

@Paul Zuvella: Well, I think "cedes" is a nice way of saying "had it decided it for him by those who are currently providing for his care." I think the difference between George and Al Davis is that Al is still mentally fit. I mean, all indications are that George has Alzheimers. I don't think he's doing this willingly.
