Annoying Superhuman Lawyer-To-Be Makes Life More Difficult For The Rest Of Us

This weekend, we went to a Derby Day party and a friend's 30th birthday, ate way too much food and kind of spent our Sunday afternoon on the couch watching old episodes of "Lost" and trying to recuperate. (We're still not quite there yet, and it's Tuesday.) Weekends like that are why people like Dan McGrath are so annoying. More »

Charlie Weis Can't Win On The Field, But Wins Off Of It

One thing that was brought up on the Best Damn Sports Show last night prior to Will's segment was a quote made last week from Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis. Weis was speaking at a Gettysburg Notre Dame Alumni event and made this comment in regard to ND's losing record last season: More »

A USC Football Player Got A Low Test Score? What?

"If your Wonderlic score is lower than the age of consent in your state, you may be a redneck." I'm not all that convinced that IQ testing is all that relevant when it comes to drafting NFL quarterbacks, but I will say this: If I needed a partner to diffuse a bomb, I'd pick LSU Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm before I'd choose USC's John David Booty. According to Mac Mirabile's annual look at the latest Wonderlic scores, Brohm got a 32 (excellent), while Booty scored a 14 (quite poor). More »

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

1. Thank God We Don't Need a Shirt Solidarity Day. It is no secret that last fall Notre Dame football was pretty dismal. After an 0-3 start, I received the following email from Student Government: More »

Everybody Keep Piling On Notre Dame!

As we come to the final death spasms of the glory/hideousness of the Notre Dame season, we stop to do a brief dance on the Irish grave. How bad has it become? Freaking Duke thinks it has a chance to win in South Bend this weekend. More »

ESPN Will Dig Up Your Lifeless Body

A man named Michael Bynum is writing a book about George Gipp, and as part of his research ... he had Gipp's body dug up. (We did not put this level of devotion into our book. Sorry.) As part of their Best College Football Players Of All Time series, an ESPN crew was there for the exhuming. That didn't make some people happy. More »

Charlie Weis Is In Your (Very) Extended Network

If you're only going to read one thing today, this is it: Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis' "MySpace" page. It's gold, Jerry! Gold! More »

It Can Always Get Worse, Irish Fans

Life's difficult for Notre Dame fans right now. Perhaps it would be instructive and therapeutic to hop back in time a year, and remember when their opponent this week, Michigan State, was in just as dire of straits. Yes, it's been almost a year since Spartans broadcaster Mike Valenti's explosion after MSU lost to Notre Dame, commemorated by the above video. It can get worse, Notre Dame fans: It always can. After all, after Michigan State lost to Notre Dame last year and Valenti took off on this rant ... the Spartans lost at home to Illinois. You're not that bad ... yet.

It's Open Season On Charlie Weis

The Charlie Weis / Notre Dame pile-on continues, gloriously. Some of it is justified, like criticism of how the school has handled the Demetrius Jones situation. (They're making him pay for school at Northern Illinois this year by not releasing him from his scholarship.) And some of it is really justified. More »

We're not sure if we can contribute that much more to the pile-on that has become discussion of the 2007 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and coach Charlie Weis ... but we're gonna try. More »

He Might Get More Votes Than Mike Gravel

You've been blinded by the breathtaking brilliance of Digger Phelps on ESPN for years. Somehow, in the vast barren nation of banality, Phelps has been a beacon of hope and brilliance. So much so that, sheesh, we should elect him President! More »
