What's Love Got to Do with It?

The closest I heard was listening to the Dodgers radio feed during the NLCS, and Vin Scully mentioned that one of Brett Myers' offseason hobbies was boxing. There was the slightest hint of irony in his voice.
I'm genuinely puzzled by this, since usually sportscasters love to bring up players past discretions, particularly if they've overcome them, be it Josh Hamilton's drug addiction or Jamie Moyer's explosive diarrhea.
Although judging from that pic above, Brett's still got some issues.

Keith Law brings this up constantly. Sportscasters will go on and on about how Manny Ramirez "disrespects the game" by not running out ground balls, but nary a mention about Brett Myers (or Willy Aybar, for that matter) having a past history of violence against women that can be considered slightly more serious.

This is most certainly not limited to MLB. It's not like NFL broadcasters are falling all over themselves to point out that Leonard Little killed someone, or NBA announcers are mentioning all the illegitimate children (Jason Caffey has 10!) and misdemeanor possession and concealed weapons charges. It's just a PR thing ... not that surprising at all, really.
