@Superfast: Absolutely, seeing as to how he was the only one injured. Yes, by bringing the gun, he was being "reckless," but if we start putting people in jail for the potential harm they could cause, the NBA would have to contract to a dozen teams.
@Dashiell Bennett: I call shenanigans for a lousy analogy.
If a person is puled over for DUI, the punishments vary based upon whether there was property damage or injuries or death. You don't toss a first time offender in jail for 2 years who blew a .14 but caused no damage.
I'll grant you that I wasn't clear in my post. I feel that 2 years is excessive for Plaxico. Fines, maybe 6 months, would be more in line considering nobody other than the perp was injured.
@Quake 'n' Shake: Maybe we should? Perhaps the reason DUI's are so commonplace is because we aren't hard enough on offenders until they hurt someone. (Sometimes not even then.) That's the logic behind NY's ultra-tough law.
@Dashiell Bennett: I'll go ahead and say that Plax's offense had to have been tantamount to swerving off the road and plowing a mail box and a fire hydrant.
So popping off rounds in a club hardly analogizes to rolling down the street sipping peacfully on some drank.
This is terrible news for his football career, especially when you consider the fact that in two years, NFL football will be played solely by robots and extraterrestrials.
