Baseball Tonight just joked that no one is running away with the AL Central because they're all Midwest teams and with the economic failure they're all trying to keep it close so people will keep going to the games.
Fuck you guys...as a Twins fan, I'll go to games (especially the last year in the Metrodome...where we've won two World Series since '87...a location in which I have tremendous memories) whether it's close or not....AND....we're not fucking Detroit. The Twin Cities are the 6th largest urban population center in the country and have weathered the economic downturn better than most. Seriously....fuck you guys.
What could that statement possibly mean? So does this mean that since the Phillies have the NL East all but wrapped up, the economic recession hasn't affected Philly?
Does this mean that all east and west-coast teams haven't been hit by the recession?
Does this mean that teams have the power to choose whether they win or lose games, and not only can they do it, but they'll do it based on political reasons? Does Congress know about this?
Why on earth would anyone make a statement like that? I cannot for the life of me figure out why they would make such a throwaway statement as that... the 3 seconds of silence that would have occurred would have been 15 times better than the pointless and insulting drivel that happened.
@Karlifornia: Agreed. This is the Internets, where all forms of behavior are to be frowned upon, but since when is being approachable, friendly and exuberant a bad thing for a public figure?
As a Canes fan, I think that's the first time I complimented a Gator since I admitted that Emmit Smith may be slightly more valuable to the Cowboys than Kevin Williams (time's gonna tell on that one).
@Karlifornia: Next, you'll be endoring Brady Quinn to start in Cleveland, & hopeing for more of the Swami on SportsCenter. You'll be voted off Deadspin Island.
/have always thought it unwarranted that Joakim rated so hated on Deadspin -- Leatherman (either wearing, or bedding) he is not

@Come a little Miroslav Klose You're My Kind of Man: Is he hated? I had no idea. I thought Noah posts were mostly done with a chuckling shake of the head and a kind of "Check this guy out. Stoned out of his mind... high five!"
This dude's 120 pounds and a skin-lightening disorder away from being the world's tallest Richard Simmons. On second thought, I guess he really doesn't look like Richard Simmons at all.

Toronto is way bigger than either Detroit or Minnesota and yet we're apparently a "small market" franchise.
