    how are the Deadspin Comentariat going to craft a set of rules for comments and comedy? I posit that it cannot be done. Rules, I think, take the wind out of the good ship Comedy and leave her adrift in the doldrums of the dread sea of 'politically correct'.

    What if we're not complaining, but we're just a little puzzled?


    I assume the Commentist Manifesto is still the over-arching guide but there have been instances in the last week or so where funny comments have been disemvoweled and/or commenter banned for what seems like relatively benign comments.


    Also the Manifesto is nearly 3 years old, which is like 3,000 in blog years. Is there a new testement coming out soon?


    And how much of the, ummm, dark humor is acceptable. Were the jokes in the Amy Michelson Breast cancer thread disemvoweled for taste or because they weren't original and/or funny? The old testament was full of fire and brimstone, and the new one was a lot happier god. This seems to follow the same path.


    Because I don't want to be one of those assholes who just asks questions but doesn't do anything helpful... Here's a link to the Commentist Manifesto

    @Stev D: No disagreement there. I think it's long time for a house-cleaning of sorts, but I'd like to know the rules again, since over the last week some of them seem to have changed.


    I don't know why I'm bothered by changing the rules as we go, I do follow the NHL after all.
