Yeah, while the "new" Ballpark is nice in a "there's not crumbling concrete and most of the seats work and they keep the place swept fairly well" way, I still miss old Rangers Stadium with its blue seats and cheap feel. I was sad to see it missing from the horizon when visiting Six Flags suddenly one summer as a kid (before I regularly followed baseball but knew who the hell Nolan Ryan was, and that I *must* hate all Houston teams).

@NightElfMohawk: I agree with you except for one thing. I grew up near Dallas and could never get behind the Rangers. They always seemed dorky in an 80's bad fashion kind of way.

I have since moved to Houston. I don't always follow baseball but when I do I follow the Astros. I am a die hard Cowboys fan and an Astros observer. Everything else in Houston can just suck it.

Rangers Ballpark - more than anything not named Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy or O'Connor - is what made George W. Bush president.

I'm pretty sure his Dad being president overrides all of that. Oh, and you forgot Rehnquist. I'd expect that crap out of Daulerio, but c'mon Craggs, you're a J.D.

[Bush] put up $600,000 of his own money to buy into the team and flipped those shares into a $15 million fortune that he used to launch his political career, a bankroll that owed a great deal to the ballpark generously furnished by taxpayers.

So were it not for this ballpark, we would not have ever gone to Iraq?
