Yep. But what I can't afford is to miss is another day of commenting. I'm overflowing with hilarity and ready to have a big day.

Weekends like this are why, out of all the Majors, I enjoy the US Open the least. Rather than being a true test of golf's finest, you usually get some no-name who has the week of life to earn himself an exemption for the next decade. While the weather has been the story this weekend, you usually get the USGA and the course manager for the venue hell-bent on tricking up the place through insane rough or slick greens. It's just a joke.
Give me the British (or if you prefer, as they call it: The Open Championship), which is golf as it is meant to be played in its native environment. Or The Masters, which is golf in the American version of its native environment. And I can at least accept the PGA as a championship on "stadium style" TPC courses. But the US Open drives me nuts.

Oh, and Ricky Barnes? Where the hell have you been since turning heads by being the low amateur at the Masters a while back?

I think Pebble is usually a well-done Open venue, as was Torrey Pines. But I've been let down by all the NY/PA venues (I'm looking at you, my beloved Oakmont).
As an Ohioan, I want to see it come back to Inverness. Or Canterbury, but it just had the Senior, so we'll see how that goes.

No-names? Really?
2008 - Tiger
2007 - Angel Cabrera (who has since won the Masters)
2006 - Ogilvy
2005 - Michael Campbell (give you that one)
2004 - Goosen (his 2nd)
2003 - Furyk
2002 - Tiger
2001 - Goosen
2000 - Tiger
1999 - Payne Stewart (his 2nd)
1998 - Lee Janzen (his 2nd)
1997 - Els (his 2nd)
1996 - Steve Jones (give you that one too)
1995 - Corey Pavin
1994 - Els
The British seems to have way more "random" winners, no?
