    I sent out a message out to Birdman Andersen on Twitter to come to my pizza place, and ended up with four dudes who run some blog asking me for free slices.

    By the way, has anyone heard that promo on the radio (might be So Cal only) where Jim Rome quotes a fake Ron Artest twitter? Rome - "And I quote, "He's missing more shots than Muhammad Ali with a sniper rifle." "End quote." Pretty funny.

    @This is my Star: Rome did a whole segment on that Artest quote, but then came back from commercial and admitted he'd been duped. Real_Ron at its peak was a surreal joy, leading to Business_Socks (RIP) actually exchanging emails with the man himself.

    /also, very nice post, Barry. Couldn't agree more about how bizarre the direct access is.

    It also seems that the as these outlets for news grow in number, more people have the opportunity to become the bringers of news. The same sort of concern came from newspapers and magazines a few years ago when blogs were becoming big. Now the question is, when everyone can have access to the source of their news, what is the use of newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc.? Ultimately, this will come full circle in a way because, even with access, there has to be something to mediate the information we're getting. And while we can focus on only the things we like already, we still need sources that will bring news that may interest us but that we didn't know was there to get. "Mainstream media" will manage to find a way to do business, it will just be different. And those of us who spent our time and money going to journalism school will probably see diminishing returns on our investment.
