Because it's Draft Week, we're focusing on some NFL guys this week, and we always like to touch on Tom Jackson whenever we have the chance.

Jackson has generally be considered a reasonable counteragent to Berman on NFL GameDay — many say it's the only program in which they legitimately enjoy Boomer — but Jackson's had some troubles of his own. His two most famous missteps were not speaking up during Rush Limbaugh's bizarre comments on Donovan McNabb, and saying that Bill Belichick was hated by his players right before the Patriots went on their massive run. But any feud with Belichick, that's not gonna get you in too much trouble with the public.

So that whole Tom Jackson calling Michael Irvin a "retard" thing from yesterday? Absolutely true, absolutely happened, and here's video, via Dejuiced.

This video is ultimately a disappointment, if just because you have to sit through so much of Irvin's prattle just to make it to the money shot ... but it still feels good. Jackson ultimately apologized, but we don't think he was denigrating anyone ... he was just complimenting Irvin.

So we haven't actually seen this, so we need someone to confirm it for us, preferably with video. Let that be our disclaimer prologue.

You can imagine what it must be like to work with Michael Irvin every day. Berman can probably handle it, because we're sure anytime anyone else is talking, he's too busy whispering to himself, "God, 'Jake (Daylight Come Me Wanna" Delhomme' ... I'm so brilliant. I kill me!" But we can't imagine it's much fun for Tom Jackson, who — Bill Belichick-related hijinks aside — seems like an intelligent enough fellow and must hate that he's forced to share the airwaves with a guy who, you know, tends to not make a lick of sense.

And apparently, it all came out on the air yesterday. After a reality-detached rant from Irvin, apparently Jackson looked at him for a moment, blinked and simply said, "Are you retarded?"

God. That must have felt great.
