    By the way, is there anything more grating than the claim that the guy who gets rammed into the boards on a play like that should have done a better job protecting himself? Isn't that the same thing as saying he shouldn't have made a hustle play to dig out the puck from along the boards? Which is also the same thing as saying he shouldn't have bothered to play hockey?


    Bugs me.

    @Dan Daoust: yeah, but you can't turn your back on every hit that you know is coming (he looked over his shoulder) - especially 3 feet from the boards. get closer to the boards next time and you won't leave the game looking like Sloth from the goonies. That said, the penalty was deserved (but you can't skate around oblivious to guys trying to hit you or you're going to get hurt see: E.Lindros, B.Lindros - and Van Ryn is clearly making a habit of going directly into the boards with his head down)
