This is more suited for DUAN, but it's the weekend, so what the hell . . .
Do you guys think that the media's deification of Tebow is a tactic intended to create a story and drive interest, or do you think the chubby, unathletic journalists who fawn over Tebow and Favre (and all the other handsome, white, male athletes) can simply not control their tendencies towards hero-worship?
@Phil Mickelsons Man Tits: It's both. Tebow asks for it, just like Danny Wuerffel did, because they're both minister's kids whose faiths are ingrained in them like snark is in you or me, and the faith angle is very, very easy for the Southern, male, usually Christian sportswriters penning Favre/Tebow pieces to connect to and write about.
But it's also true that Tebow is the biggest star at the biggest school in college football right now, and is a much better quote than Percy Harvin. That sort of person is always going to be a media gold mine, and there will be all sorts of stories about Tebow, this one just being one of the ones in the deification vein that's so easy to tap.
@Rock You Like An Iracane: Interesting you mention Harvin, because in my opinion, he did a little more to win that game than Tebow, at least on the field. Harvin was unstoppable pretty much the whole game, whereas for the 1st half Tebow was human. Not that I wouldn't expect anything more- he is human, after all, but I'm just saying that Harvin was spectacular. As a fan of the Big 12, I was terrified anytime Harvin lined up in the backfield.
Watching guys that tore it up in college get absolutely wrecked in the NFL is one of the great joys in life. You may call it schadenfreude, but I call it justice.
