Its not true that high schoolers won't break wood bats. I played in a wood bat league in high school and we broke them all the time. I can't believe (North Dakota notwithstanding) that it is going to cost the same to use woodies.
No one said they wouldn't break, just that they wouldn't break enough overall to justify the much higher cost of the newer alternatives.
Just because you played in a league where they "broke them all the time," doesn't mean everyone does that. I recently played in a "senior" wood bat league (they call it senior still for some reason, but we're all under 30) that went 45 games and while I broke a bat in the second game, I used the second one the rest of the season.
