HS Soccer Players Allegedly Raped Fellow Camper With Broomstick

On Monday, we told you about three Massachusetts high school soccer players who had been charged with sexual assault after an alleged incident at a team-building camp. At the time, the nature of the alleged assault wasn't known, but now Boston.com has the grisly details.

According to prosecutor Rachel Eramo, 16-year-old Galileo Mondol and two accomplices broke into a cabin that was occupied by a group of freshmen. The three boys then allegedly went around the room, pointing at the freshmen and threatening to "pick someone." From Boston.com:

Then, one of the 16-year-old boys grabbed a broom, forced a freshman onto the floor on his hands and knees and raped him with the broom, Eramo said. Citing information provided by victims and witnesses, she said Mondol told his two accomplices to stop, but once the assault was underway, he changed his mind.

“I want to have a crack at that,’’ Mondol allegedly said, according to Eramo. “If you do it again, I will lift up the broomstick,’’ Mondol also allegedly said.

The three boys then allegedly tried to assault two other freshman, but were fought off. Mondol's defense attorneys claim that he did not participate in the alleged attack, and attempted to stop the two other boys.

Mondol is currently in jail on $100,000 bond, and is set to appear at a dangerousness hearing on Friday.
