The Jaguars entered this season with expectations of contending for a playoff spot. Instead, after a 24-21 loss to the Texans, they’re 2-7 and haven’t won a game in a month. It’s been a grim season, but thankfully Blake Bortles is dedicated to supplying his fans with much needed dosages of slapstick comedy.

Above, you see an interception thrown by Bortles during yesterday’s loss to the Texans. Because he threw the ball backwards it technically went into the books as a fumble, but we can call it what it was. This was the second turnover committed by Bortles on the day, the first being an interception that was taken back for a TD by Houston corner Kareem Jackson on the first drive of the game.

What this one lacked in return yardage, it made up for in sheer absurdity. Bortles attempted to throw a little screen pass to T.J. Yeldon, but the ball careened off Yeldon’s foot and up into the air, where it fell into the meaty paws of Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus.

Congratulations to Blake Bortles on elevating the art of the interception to that of the trick shot.
