The US Men's National Soccer Team will play on Cuban soil for the first time in over 60 years in tonight's World Cup qualifier. Given the fact that the communist nation hasn't qualified since 1982 and recently their best players have defected with ease it should come as little surprise that the Americans are heavy favorites in their bid to move ever closer to the next step of the interminable qualification process. Brad Guzan took full advantage of his opportunity on the big stage. The young American keeper was outstanding in America's shutout win against a fairly well-stocked Swedish national team. Eddie Robinson earned his first cap at the age of 29 and capitalized almost immediately with the match's first goal. Future world-beater Jozy Altidore came on after the halfway point and made his presence known on his first touch. More »

The US Men's National Team earned a victory over South Africa this morning (at least it was this morning here, I think it was tomorrow there). A 27th minute goal scored off of a Steve Cherundolo run was all the US needed to hold off an attacking opponent. The 28 year-old defender was probably the last person viewers were keying on, especially with Freddy Adu starting and phenom striker Jozy Altidore set to earn his first cap (he entered as a substitute for Clint Dempsey in the second half). After one year the Bob Bradley era is going swimmingly, of course things will heat up this summer when they begin their attempt to qualify for the 2010 World Cup (which happens to be in South Africa).
