Johnny Manziel was one of many college quarterbacks to attend the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend. But he's the only one who was reportedly kicked out of it for being hungover.
Rumors & Rants has the story:
Our boots on the ground in Thibodaux, La. — believe it or not, we have them — informed us that Johnny Manziel was sent home from the Manning Passing Academy on Saturday afternoon by Archie Manning himself. Our source, who wishes to remain anonymous because of his connection to the camp, gave us the scoop after Manziel showed up tardy Saturday afternoon after being out on the town Friday night. The Texas A&M star reportedly enjoyed himself a little too much Friday night and rolled back into the camp at Nicholls State University some time around noon Saturday before getting the boot.
If that's true, someone lied to a local writer, who tweeted that an official said Manziel was sick, and would not compete on Saturday.
Of course, Johnny Football is Johnny Football. He rallied.

I may have terrified @JManziel2 on NG when I darted past him and announced his presence, but sorry and I hope you had a good night out!!!!— Sydney✞ (@MissAggieCO) July 14, 2013
NG is short for Northgate, College Station's bar strip. Hookah Station is part of the Northgate strip.
Heard anything else about Mr. Manziel's weekend? Let us know.
Update (12:48 p.m.): Local Louisiana radio reporter Patrick Netherton confirms that Manziel was dismissed from the Manning Passing Academy for showing up late after being out on Friday night. (Manziel and Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron were photographed while out on Friday night, and McCarron was snapped with Peyton and Eli Manning.) The hangover is still "unconfirmed," we guess?
Update (1:46 p.m): ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Manziel's departure from the was "apparently due to illness," and has this statement from the Manning Passing Academy.
"Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach," the statement said. "After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone's best interest for him to go home a day early."
Mortensen also quotes Peyton Manning:
"I enjoyed meeting Johnny," said Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning "I can remember a 20-year-old Eli (Manning) missing a meeting and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year."
Wonder why Manziel might have felt ill after a night on the town!
Update (2:10 p.m.): Prior to Mortensen's report, Mark Passwaters, a reporter for Texas A&M's Rivals site, had this to pass along.
Ok, for those of you freaking out: I have it on very good authority Johnny Manziel was not drunk and kicked out of the Manning camp.— Mark Passwaters (@themarkup) July 14, 2013
Did he leave early? Yes. But not due to some drunken bender.— Mark Passwaters (@themarkup) July 14, 2013
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is "resting and recuperating from dehydration," according to his father, Paul Manziel. (Continued..)— Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) July 14, 2013
Manziel's father said in a text message that Manziel is resting at home with his family and is not football-ready but is feeling better.— Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) July 14, 2013
"Resting at home with his family" and "recuperating from dehydration" would, perhaps, be at odds with being spotted by multiple people out last night.
Oh, and there's this:
Texas A&M confirms Johnny Manziel will still attend SEC media days on Wednesday in Hoover, Ala. as scheduled. (cue the circus...)— Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) July 14, 2013
Update (5:33 p.m.): Just a couple more tweets about Manziel being out at Northgate on Saturday night.
That second one sure is interesting.
