A lot of people think Hope Solo is hot, <a href="http://www.kckrs.com/what-google-trends-tells-us-about-hope-solo-and-her-hotness/">statistically speaking</a>. That's not surprising. What <em>is</em> unusual is how little her perceived hotness seems to matter to those people. There seems to be less of a desire to see her in a bikini, and the fact that people find her attractive is manifesting itself in a more chaste way &mdash; marriage proposals. The sign pictured above might have helped to start the trend, but it can't be the only thing going on here, as the offers <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/hope%20solo%20marry">keep pouring in</a>. There are also plenty of men who want to take things <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/hope%20solo%20date">a bit</a> <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/hope%20solo%20call">more slowly</a>, and her current relationship status is being googled enough for Bleacher Report to start 10 recent article headlines with "<a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=hope+solo+boyfriend&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=site:bleacherreport.com+hope+solo+boyfriend&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=3tq&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivns&ei=UlQkTrbaCKXw0gGs-LzbAw&start=0&sa=N&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=86582d5fedad0c80&biw=1584&bih=559">Hope Solo Boyfriend</a>." <a href="http://deadspin.com/5822206/why-everyone-wants-to-marry-hope-solo" title="Click here to read more about Why Everyone Wants To Marry Hope Solo">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Neither Hope Solo's ravishing skin nor <a href="http://deadspin.com/5820010/whos-afraid-of-hope-solos-nipple">disappearing nipple</a> has carried the US Women's National Team to one game of the women's World Cup. Rather, the team can credit the musical stylings of its head coach, Pia Sundhage. She sings. And even though she's Swedish, she knows more than Cardigans and Ace of Base. <a href="http://deadspin.com/5821828/the-us-womens-coach-who-is-swedish-fires-her-team-up-by-occasionally-breaking-into-soft+rock-song" title="Click here to read more about The US Women's Coach, Who Is Swedish, Fires Her Team Up By Occasionally Breaking Into Soft-Rock Song">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

I suppose we should have expected Sepp Blatter <a href="http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/federation/president/presidentialcolumn/news/newsid=1393938.html?cid=twitter_voiceofthesite">to hoist himself onto a soapbox</a> this morning. It is, after all, the <a href="http://www.internationalwomensday.com/">100th anniversary of International Women's Day</a>, which means it's also a perfect opportunity for Blatter to bleat some of the shameless agitprop for which he's beloved: <a href="http://deadspin.com/5779588/a-message-from-sepp-blatter-on-international-womens-day" title="Click here to read more about A Message From Sepp Blatter On International Women's Day">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Soccer offsides is hard to grasp, for Americans raised on a hard-and-fast line demarcating what's legal. But it's presumably not difficult for a professional referee, regardless of gender, despite the boorish comments that got two British broadcasters in trouble. <a href="http://deadspin.com/5743150/the-massively-sexist-analogy-brits-use-to-explain-offsides-to-women" title="Click here to read more about The Massively Sexist Analogy Brits Use To Explain Offsides To Women">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Yesterday's news about former Jayhawk heroes Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur allegedly <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3567481">getting caught with "marijuana and women"</a> at NBA rookie transition program has put their current teams in a bind (Chalmers was supposed to compete for the Heat's starting point guard job) and their former head coach, Bill Self, in protective mode. ESPN reported yesterday that the players were nabbed by hotel security at the Doral Arrowwood resort in Rye Brook, N.Y., where 69 of the league's rookies arrived last night for the four-day seminar in which coaches, referees and former players speak about "adapting to the league". (One of the seminars: "Personal Development and Education" which covers, among other things, "Drugs and Alcohol" and "Sexual Health".
