Whitlock is easily one of the fattest men I have seen in person. He attended a Kansas City Knights ABA basketball game a few years ago, I suppose to cover it for the KC Star. He waddled in at halftime out of the Knights' locker room and stayed until about ten minutes to go in a close game. He is a very, very huge man. I can't stress this enough. Whitlock went to high school in Indianapolis with Jeff George and they played on the same football team. Somehow Whitlock gives off that vibe of the type of guy who constantly told people "My best friend Jeff George is going to be the best quarterback in NFL history" and just couldn't bring himself to admit the obvious magnitude of George's immense failures. Personally I'm amazed that Whitlock has made it this far into the NFL season without ridiculing a random starting quarterback and whining "How can this guy be starting in the NFL while Jeff George is sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring?!" He's usually good for a couple of those each year.

Quick note -- Jeff George is Whitlock's Binkie. He's in love with Jeff George and has campaigned for the guy so long that Whitlock now seems to recognize how ridiculous it is. I think when you start writing for Page 2, you are allowed one Binkie to champion and claim is better than anyone else is willing to admit: Whitlock - Jeff George The Late Ralph Wiley - Eric Davis Bill Simmons - Jimmy Kimmel etc.

Living in Kansas City gave me much respect for Mr. Whitlock. Though I don't always agree with him, he is well informed, intelligent, and funny. He sticks to his guns, doesn't just toe the company line, and says things that he truly believes, and not just what he thinks will get him press. Also, the man can eat BBQ like no one else.
