A good percentage of the people who attend Mets games get to the stadium either by train (Long Island Railroad) or subway, both of which are accessed by crossing a boardwalk of sorts. Getting to this boardwalk requires going through one of several gates and then climbing a fairly narrow set of stairs. And for whatever reason, following Game 7 of this year's NLCS, the NYPD decided to lock all of the gates shut except for one. So you've got thousands of people attempting to pass through what amounts to a slightly-wider-than-normal doorway... while it's pouring rain... following a heartbreaking loss.

Needless to say, people were not happy.

People were even less happy when some douchefucker's girlfriend, upon reaching the top of the stairs and starting across the boardwalk, suddenly stops to admire the size of the crowd. "Oh my god, look at all those people! I have to get a picture of this!" she squeals to her boyfriend. So she raises her camera to take a picture. And she does so, so do about a thousand people simultaneously raise their middle fingers high in the air.

I was proud of New York that day. And I want a copy of that picture.
