What's lost in all of this is that a true hero has emerged from the Amaechi is gay disclosures. No, not Amaechi. I'm with Granderson... he should have come out while he was playing.

No, the man we should all look up to in admiration is Andrei Kirilenko. First we learn that his wife allots him one groupie per year. (Well played AK-47.) Now we learn that amongst all the posturing, PC-commenting, and bloviating, Kirilenko was ahead of the curve by making a simple, decent gesture of friendship to a fellow player.

It's sad, though, when something so basic is what stands out as impressive and heroic.
