Pacman isn't likable enough for anyone to analyze it, but giving the commisioner this kind of unquestioned power has got to be one of the worst union decisions I've ever heard. The idea of a union is to protect it's members, and allowing a rule like this is the exact opposite of their supposed mission.

As for the Duke reference, it's not a comparison, but rather a hypothetical example of a similiar idea going ridiculously bad. Don't forget that team members were kicked out of school there. Similar things can and do hapopen at the pro level, and nothing in place can prevent Goodell from exercising the same policy on the offending player.

Interesting subplot here: NFLPA being sued by 3,500 former players for insufficient representation...

In the Duke case it was "she said/they said" and there was no physical evidence that matched her story. In the Pacman case there were several witnesses as well as three people that were shot, one of whom is paralyzed. Also, Pacman already had a long list of legal problems even before this happened. And let's not forget that he isn't being imprisoned without being charged. He's being suspended from work for embarrassing his employer.

He's just not letting him play football for a year. This was just the latest in a long string of incidents. At this point it's almost irrelevant whether he actually bashed a stripper's head against the stage. Or bit a bouncer and ordered one of his buddies to "Smoke him!" just before several potentially fatal bullets were fired. Jones clearly has serious issues that need to be addressed.
