Lombardi: When Pride Still Mattered and Clemente are both excellent biographies, and on the non-sporting from honestly, having now read The Best and The Brightest, it's not perfect, but I learned so much about the nature of the modern CW towards Vietnam from it. During the State of the Union, one of the DU!ANers recommended The Nightingale's Song and that was the best thing I have read all year.

Same here. Although, I remember watching English Football when it was known as the First Division back in the late 70s. The PBS station in the NYC area, Channel 13, use to show an hour of it a week with Mario Machado. They use to also show an hour of West German Football with Toby Charles.

Also, "The Wages of Wins" is a great book with a focus on player salaries in the NBA. It's a more cerebral book, as they throw a lot of statistics around... very much like Freakonomics.
