And BTW, Wilbon thinks baseball is beneath him; by his own admission, his interest in MLB is limited to the Cubs and White Sox.

I think the fear is that a journalist can be "scooped" by a blogger, because they don't have to fact check. Not that they do a better or worse job, but they can disseminate the same information quicker. There is also the fear that blogs become reputable news sources...which is like quoting the National Inquirer as truth.
