@xhackx: I'm sorry, but I just can't give respect to the Big East. Last year, Louisville and West Virginia played the two easiest schedules in the country and Rutgers wasn't very far behind. They beat Wake Forest, GA Tech and Kansas State in bowl games. This year, Louisville straight up loses to Kentucky and a sucky Syracuse team and Rutgers can't get their shit together against a team that actually cares somewhat about football.

The argument that the Big East is like the new SEC because of the competition is like saying the ACC is like the new SEC because of all the "parity." Sorry. When Rutgers and Wake Forest represent your conference in BCS games, that's just a straight up shame.

I love how there are fans of about 10 college football teams that think the entire sport belongs to their team (note that 10 changes out a team or two every decade). And that is what makes a college football upset better than any other in sports. You get these players and these fans that have no idea how to react while they are losing. Wide-eyed shock that sets in well before the actual horror; like walking in on your mother going down on your grandmother.

NCAA Football needs a South Florida to win it all.

I decided to finish my degree at USF two years ago, and at the time barely even knew they HAD a football program.

I don't want to root for the Bulls... or at least root for them in that bandwagon way most of Tampa is now, but I am soon to be an alumni... and god my childhood team sucks.

What is the appropriate course of action?

Shamelessly jump on the bandwagon like the other sheep? Stand by my childhood team like a good boy, reject the Bulls, and wear blinders like a horse to class everyday? Be a total douche and root for them both?

i think this is why i like college football so much more than the nfl (aside from the fact that a college gameday is actually a fri afternoon - sun morning drinking event surrounded by hot or hot-enough 18-22 yr old girls).

the falcons beating the steelers was the equivalent of the colorado/oklahoma upset, but does that mean the steelers won't go to the super bowl now? no. does it make it harder for the steelers to win their division? no. it's just an upset in a season where every team simply seeks to make the playoffs. the pressure on every individual regular season game is something unique just to college football. every loss hurts, because every loss greatly affects the season.

Another thing. SEC fans like to bitch and bray about how their league is the toughest league because nobody else has to play a conference schedule full of badasses like the SEC.
