but, simply losing a tight game? against a team they had recently played closely? how is that a choke?

2004 ALCS, the yankees were up 3-0 and lost the next four. that's a choke. the oilers were up by 28 in the 2nd half against the bills and lost, that's a choke.

the pats were UPSET. don't tell me we're now throwing around "choke" for every upset that is based on pointspread.

It would be disrespecting the Giants to call their win a fluke. But calling the Pats loss a choke? I mean, it was, wasn't it? They got outplayed, yes, and they deserved to lose the game, and that's why it's a choke; if a record-setting offense only scores 14 points, then they choked.

I mean, didn't the Yankees choke away the 2004 ALCS? they got outplayed by the Red Sox in Games 4-7, but they still choked. You aren't supposed to lose a series when you're up 3-0, and the Pats weren't supposed to lose this game.
