Especially considering she comes down on Friday, will be home until the 30th, and I should be able to see her and "share her company" in Gainesville for the first time.

But no. Her mom has balked at the idea of her coming up to see me (UF is 3 hours from home, and the Rockette would be taking one of three family cars) not just for two days, two nights, as we think would be ideal, or two days, one night, very nice, or one night, one day, but in principle and in general. She apparently got emotional (read: angry) on the phone with the Rockette tonight, which led to the tearful call I got.

Mama Rockette has said "my daughters will live with someone before marriage over my dead body" before, but she seems to have dismissed the idea of her daughter staying overnight for one or two nights, even if not in my room (or "not in my room"), out of hand. Even better is the fact that Rockette's elder sister gets biweekly visits at school from her boyfriend, who drives his own car down for weekends, and the parents have not only accepted that, but frequently give him care packages to take.

The Rockette is 18. The Rockette is also flying home on family's dime (though she could afford it herself and I've offered to shoulder some cost).

These are the facts. Give me a take.
