The only way I've found to describe the state of baseball here in Pittsburgh is this: when I'm forced to admit being a season ticket holder, the only response is, "....really?!!?!" followed shortly thereafter by incredible fits of laughter. But hey, they're incredible seats, and at meager $35 @ face value, who wouldn't want to enjoy what the rest of the MLB has to offer?

At this point, I'm not hoping for a miracle, or even a really incredible prospect. I'd settle for Orlando Merced or Chico Lind. Surely, one of them is still alive.

BTW, I do have to take issue with the notion that Nutting is smarter than McClatchy. Keep in mind this is the guy who bought Seven Springs Ski Resort with the plan to build a slots casino until MLB reminded him of the little clause about owners having no association with gambling. He, of course, ended up pulling his casino application. (So does that mean that bobbleheads bring in more money than slots?)
