@lisa: I think it's overly simple to pretend that race doesn't exist in a sport with almost entirely white owners, yet athletes who traditionally (minus the 50s, and the current Euro-boom) are black. I'm not saying I agree with anything, but I am saying that Tyler Hansbrough will get that bullshit shot blocked if he tries it on Duncan, Garnett, or Amare, nine times out of ten. Because he's white, maybe it makes him look doofier.

Regardless, there's a discussion here, one I wish people would have instead of plugging their fingers in their ears and flipping off the channel.

So it's really about what "talking heads" say...not about the logic of hiring/firing? Because to me, the simplicity of some people overachieve at the next level and some don't. I guess when I hire somebody, I just be able to predict with certainty who's going to work and who's not. As much as I tend to agree with the overall opinion of the Deadspin community, I have to disagree here.

I can't listen to the clip here at work, but if it doesn't have the conversation from the rest of the show, it loses something. The question was legite. Stan Van gundy answered it today with no problem, and it turned into an intelligent conversation.

Surprisingly, Le Batard shares the same views and ideas as most of the people on here, as scary as that is.

Maybe I'm just stupid, but I don't get the whole thing. Owners/companies make offers to who they want to play on their team and how much they want to pay. Players are picked by a team/company and negotiate what they think they should earn. This happens in every company/business And like every other business, some employees exceed expectations and some don't work out. What am I missing here?
