I'm always curious about how someone can go through life without wanting to do more with themselves. It confuses me.

Yeah, that's what baffles me. I mean, listen, you don't need college to be successful in life, but unless you really know what you want to do and know for sure that it doesn't require formal education, it'll be a hell of a lot easier on you later in life to just get the degree. According to my parents, his issue is that he doesn't think he'll be as successful as I am, so he's decided it's not worth trying... and that's an excuse, as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly. Not to mention (and not passing judgment on you or anyone here), but "I don't feel like it" seems like a pretty silly reason to pass up a parent-funded college education, to me. And it's not like he's even trying hard at the acting thing; he lives on Long Island, a 40-minute train ride away from Manhattan, and yet has done exactly zero auditions, and added exactly nothing to his resume (besides the bartending) in the last two years. He didn't drop out because there was something he wanted to do more, he dropped out because he's lazy.

In any case, if you can, say as little as possible, but don't put yourself in a position where a faculty member feels lied to or deceived. We're generally pretty forgiving when informed up-front, and vindictive as hell when not.

Okay, all, extension of my prior depression/academic problems:

I learned this evening that one of the people on the Faculty Senate Petitions Committee, which will decide whether I can drop the class I'm trying to drop, is the interim director of Honors here, a guy I like and who likes me (he wrote one of the recs for my RA application).

Howeva, I haven't told anyone in Honors, much less the director, about my difficulties, medical, academic, or otherwise, and certainly haven't told him, so this would come as a surprise in a meeting to occur next week; I am not there for the meeting, only my petition.

Further, one of the scholarships I get to be here is an Honors-specific one that should put me really close to Honors.

So should I email him tomorrow explaining my situation?

I'm assuming the tooth is still intact (cracked, but you haven't lost any parts of it). So, obviously, avoid hard foods (I'd just avoid eating altogether), and definitely rinse with a salt water solution. Mouthwash would work too, but if the tooth is that badly damaged that the nerve is exposed, the alcohol in the mouthwash could possibly do some damage, not to mention hurt like a sonofabitch.
Alternatively, you could try packing the tooth in dental wax (available at the drugstore) to protect it from further damage.
