Further, there are going to be a number of undrafted free agent signings over the coming days. Many of the players you speak of will be drafted, but if they do not stick, once again, there is probably a reason.

Admittedly, I am dragging ass and may not be fully grasping your issue. I thought at first it was the Army's policy.

These kids who are going pro and getting shafted had every chance to make themselves a better student/well-rounded athlete/knowledgable player in their 3+ years in school. They had a draft combine, private workouts, Wonderlic testing, interviews, etc. When all was said and done, their entire resume didn't measure up. For that, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

And my point is that there's a much better life than working something 9 to 5 provided by the college community available to pretty much every college athlete through education or connection to a more profitable career.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but a) that's what COLLEGE is for and b)it's a far cry from living in Liberty City and taking care of your Travis Henry-esque sperm factory.

One thing we can agree on: If you can't figure out how to parlay an athletic scholarship to any four-year school into a good life, you're either an idiot and deserve what you get or incredibly unlucky.

If after 4 years they don't get to make the jump, at least they have a degree to fall back on, even if it is in Hospitality and Tourism Management. A college degree is a college degree, and can open a lot more doors than a lot of these kids would be able to open without it.

If you get lower and the educational standards/endowment of the school don't go up (say, if you're an athlete at Macalester or Kenyon, don't you think that education will intercede on football at some point), the network the coach has gets smaller and smaller.
