ok, i'm going to nerd it up once and only once: as an academic who actually works on questions of democracy, argumentation and public deliberation, i can say with absolute certainty that no contemporary scholars worth half a damn believe that a technocratic, hierarchical approach with to communication is a good idea. the greater the dissemination of information and the more voices of reflection or dissent possible, the better. maybe this is just my player haters degree talking, but seriously...perhaps another way to explain it to the reillys of the world is to use their own reasoning against themselves: anti-blogging journalists need to get off of the broke-ass futon, out of the basement, put on some pants and leave theorizing the public sphere to professionals.

I did however notice upon arrival in this abyss known as Deadspin that the sentence DOES matter. I see people getting roasted daily for using crappy grammar.
