I've suffered through their losses and cheered when they won. I've also liked the fact the Sox reputation was a bit harder-edge than some other teams. However, it's cringe-inducing antics like this that tarnishes my Sox pride -- not because they lost six games in a row. Hey...I grew up in Chicago, I understand losing.

Ozzie screams, look at us, we have something special here. We deserve our share of the limelight. While I may agree with Ozzie on that point, tastless antics like this is not what should catapult him and the Sox onto that national stage.

I know that Ozzie didn't do this; it was a player. This is just systemic of the organizational culture. The Sox fans begroan their working-class reputation yet the Lidges live on in infamy. The Sox organization begroan their lack of media and second-class status yet it's Ozzie and his fight with Mags and Kenny and his fight with Frank that negates anything the Sox do to capture that larger-than-the-Southside audience.

If you want the respect of a world-class organization, start acting like one. Even better, stop giving Mariotti ammunition to continue his Sox-bashing. Make him grudingly give you respect. To do this, attitudes must change from the owner and cascade through to the batboy. Class up the joint.
