Osgood deserves at least a two game suspension. One game for a deliberate attempt to injure and one game for diving. If he had tried that play in the Montreal Forum, all the old Frenchmen would be yelling over the glass, "Embelishmont, embelishmont!" (it's ok for Montreal Canadians to take dives but someone from the other team, mais non).

@HockeyMountain: I didn't see any motion of the stick prior to the initial hit. He didn't go out of the crease. The horn sounded, so I can see him standing up at that point.

I can't read Osgood's mind. I can only tell you what I saw, and if you're comparing what Osgood and Ribiero did, a deliberate swing of the stick versus put his stick out and having someone else skate into it is night and day.

Jesus, is this what I can expect from Deadspin now? It's like you guys have never watched a hockey game before. Every goalie in the league sticks out his stick in that situation. It's very clear, Ribiero's sole intent was to injure Detroit's best player. If the league doesn't supend Ribiero for game three, McCarty should make sure he can't play game four.

I watched the play when it was live. Osgood stood up, the game was over, and there was some chippiness. Ribiero could've skated well wide of the goaltender and avoided everything...it wasn't as though he was pushed into the net. And there was no force on Osgood...it's not as though he pushed the butt into Ribiero's face, as opposed to Ribiero's swing.

I'll also admit that Osgood definitely sold that slash. But I definitely think Ribiero's gone and Osgood isn't. You can make a decent case that the butt hit was an accident. You can't for Ribiero.

The only recognition Osgood shold get is for his Oscar caliber dive after receiving the two-hander to his chest protector (stops 90+mph shots but caves under a love-tap?!?!). This in a game where Turco takes out Filpula's skates behind the play, etc. etc.

Much ado about nothing. The league is the only one getting the butt end of anything if any suspensions are handed out period. On to game 3. PLEASE!
