The term appears in 1811 in the Lexicon Balatronicum: A Dictionary of Buckish Slang, University Wit, and Pickpocket Eloquence, an updated version of Grose's Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue. It is defined therein as:

"QUEER STREET. Wrong. Improper. Contrary to one's wish. It is queer street, a cant phrase, to signify that it is wrong or different to our wish."

Zdeno Chara Fights Brian Boyle, Earns Gordie Howe Hat Trick

Zdeno Chara is listed at six-foot-nine. Brian Boyle is listed at six-foot-seven. It was still a rather one-sided fight involving two of the tallest players in the NHL, though.

At first, the Rangers' Boyle looked reluctant to fight Chara, and for good reason. Who wants to fight that giant? Chara pummeled Boyle heavily in a short amount of time, and the two fell to the ice.

The scrap left the Bruins defenseman a goal short of a Gordie Howe hat trick, and about halfway through the third period, he completed it, slapping home the game-winner for an eventual 3-2 Bruins win.
