Here's a clip from yesterday's John Thompson Show on ESPN 980 in Washington, D.C., during which a discussion of Ryan Braun's PED incident took place. (Deadspin edited about a minute from the discussion for brevity.) The program quickly moves onto a new topic once Thompson mentions that he doesn't know what herpes is and is informed "it's a venereal disease."
I can't blame J.T. too much, because if there's anything I've learned from the Internet it's that a lot of people think herpes is a plural noun meaning cold sores, e.g. "Check out the herpe on Tim Tebow's lip." Now that Wikipedia is back, feel free to look it up yourself—or just watch this clip from Beverly Hills Cop.

Update (3:25 p.m.): Dan Steinberg suggests the voice asking what herpes is belongs to Thompson's co-host, Rick "Doc" Walker.
Update 2 (3:35 p.m.): ESPN 980 says it's indeed Doc Walker who didn't know what herpes was. We apologize for suggesting otherwise.
