It might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom s Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NBA team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they re out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Today: The Dallas Mavericks.
Things we didn't know about Mark Cuban: One of his first jobs was as a powdered milk salesman; He attended Indiana University, working his way through college by giving disco lessons; He grew up in Pittsburgh; He bought the Mavericks from a group headed by Ross Perot. Heh. Hard as we try, we just can't picture what a Mavericks blog written by Ross Perot would look like. Well, maybe we can picture the title: "Can I Finish?" Anyway, Cuban has made the Mavericks into one of the most exciting NBA teams to talk about, if not to actually watch; Dallas hasn't won anything during his tenure. But hey, this could be the year! After all, the Mavericks are the only team to have players from Germany, Russia and the Congo. To confirm, let's look at the blogs.
3. Da Mavs. A little funky, a little message board-ish, but a great spot to sit a while and study the Mavs.
2. Rebel Ballin'. Old school blogging. We made up the term, and we don't know what it means.
