It might not yet have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom s Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NBA team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they re out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Today: The Denver Nuggets.
Dan Issel, Bobby Jones, David Thompson ... these are names longtime Nuggets fans know well. Remember the rainbow striped jerseys, and coach Larry Brown? (Whatever happened to him?) We also loved the old logo, depicting a miner finding an ABA ball (insert Marv Albert sound byte here: "Not what he had in mind!"). A 32-8 record over the second half of last season had given Nuggets fans hope that 2005-06 could be when they finally got their first NBA championship. And hey, they're in first place in the Northwest Division. Then how come, we wonder, more people aren't blogging this team on a consistent basis? Let's investigate:
3. Nuggets Nook. Very inconsistent posting, but their latest is a doozy — claiming that Kenyon Martin sent two friends into the stands to threaten a fan who had been heckling him. Is this the new trend in the NBA? Stay tuned.
2. Nuggets Bits and Bites. A solid blog with a healthy distaste for Carmelo Anthony's antics ... but no new posts in about a month. What gives?
1. Solid Gold. If you want the latest Nuggets news seasoned with great commentary, stop the car — this is the place.
