Blogdom's Best: Minnesota Timberwolves

It might not — yet — have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NBA team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they're out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at Today: The Minnesota Timberwolves.

Why have the TimberWolves won no conference titles or league championships in their 17-year existence? For one thing, their old logo looks like Lassie. Fearsome it was not — instead looking like it should be curled up at the foot of Timmy's bed. Secondly, we are tired of mascots which depict locally extinct animals. Has there been an actual Timber Wolf in Minnesota since 1910? If not, why? Because the good people there killed them all. (We also hate the California Bear flag). NBA fortunes may be turning in Minneapolis, however. The Wolves won a division title in 2004, and are only 3 1/2 out of first in the Northwest Division as of today — as you will see as we cruise the blogs.

3. GH and Petey's Timberwolves blog. A love-hate relationship with the home team and a design background which made us dizzy. It all equals good fun.
2. Wolves Watch. Great writing and reporting — nothing not to like here. We just kind of wish they had a better team to watch.
1. I Heart KG. A new blog which has hit the ground running. We like.

(A reader informs us: "While snowmobiling near Ely, Minnesota last week a timberwolf crossed our trail. Yes, they do exist. In fact there are so many of them they are thinking of taking them off the endangered list." So now you know.)
