The Milwaukee Brewers acquired outfielder/first baseman Mark Canha and cash considerations from the New York Mets on Monday in exchange for minor league right-hander Justin Jarvis

Canha, 34, was in his second season in New York after playing his first seven major league campaigns for the Oakland Athletics. Canha is batting .245 in 89 games this season, with six home runs, 15 doubles and 29 RBIs

A career .248 hitter, Canha has 108 home runs and 384 RBIs in 874 career games. He has played every outfield spot, first base, third base and designated hitter since entering the league in 2015

The Mets, who entered the week in fourth place in the National League East at 50-55, made their third trade in four days. They sent relief pitcher David Robertson to the Miami Marlins and former Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers, recouping minor-leaguers in each deal

From Milwaukee, the Mets land Jarvis, a 23-year-old selected by the Brewers in the fifth round of the 2018 draft. He has split the 2023 campaign between Triple-A Nashville and Double-A Biloxi, going 6-6 with a 4.33 ERA in 17 starts with 102 strikeouts in 87 1/3 innings
