Bruce Miller Charged With Seven Felonies, Allegedly Beat Elderly Man With Cane

Former 49ers fullback Bruce Miller, who was released by the team after he was arrested for allegedly beating a 70-year-old man and his son in a San Francisco hotel, was formally charged today with seven felonies and a misdemeanor. The charges, from the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, are as follows:

1 count of assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm (weapon alleged is a cane) - Felony

1 count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury – Felony

1 count of inflicting injury on an elder or dependent adult likely to cause great bodily injury – Felony

1 count of battery with serious bodily injury – felony

2 counts of criminal threats – felonies

1 count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury – felony

1 count of battery – misdemeanor

There are multiple allegations/enhancements for commission of the offense against an elder adult. According to court records there are two victims, one is 70 years old.

Here is part of the San Francisco police department’s report of the alleged incident:

The suspect, later identified as 29 year old male Bruce Miller, was attempting to enter a hotel room that was not his. The room was occupied by an elderly couple (70 year old male and 66 year old female) both of whom do not know Miller. The neighboring guest, the couple’s son (29 years old), informed Miller he was at the wrong room when Miller charged at him starting a physical confrontation. The father came to his son’s defense when he was punched by Miller. Both the father and son were transported to the hospital for their injuries.

Miller also allegedly got into a fight at a sandwich shop earlier in the day.
