Juan Soto homered twice and drove in four runs to lead the San Diego Padres to an 8-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night in Denver

Fernando Tatis Jr. added two RBIs to help the Padres win for the ninth time in 14 games. San Diego's Jake Cronenworth had two hits for the fifth consecutive game

Ryan McMahon homered and drove in four runs for Colorado. Elias Diaz had three doubles and Jurickson Profar also had three hits for the Rockies, who have lost five of their past seven games

Padres reliever Robert Suarez (1-0) was credited with the win allowed one hit during a scoreless eighth

San Diego's Tim Hill allowed the first two batters to reach in the ninth, and Brendan Rodgers followed with a run-scoring groundout. Josh Hader entered and recorded the final two outs for his 26th save

The Padres loaded the bases with one out in the fifth on two singles and a walk against Colorado's Peter Lambert (2-2). Tatis hit into a fielder's choice against Tommy Doyle to give San Diego a 2-1 lead. Soto followed and hit a 431-foot blast to center to make it a four-run margin

The Rockies got back in the game in the seventh

Profar and Ezequiel Tovar began the inning with singles against Brent Honeywell. Steven Wilson entered, and McMahon jumped all over a 1-1 sweeping curveball and sent it over the fence in right-center to bring Colorado within 5-4. It was McMahon's 18th blast of the season

Soto homered again with one out in the eighth when he ripped a 1-0 fastball from Tyler Kinley over the fence in center. It was the third two-homer game of the season for Soto, who has 22 homers on the year

In the ninth, Trent Grisham and Ha-Seong Kim each lined an RBI single to give San Diego a four-run lead
